Meet the Team

Staff

Anna

Anna Spenceley – CEO

I joined Home-Start East Surrey in January 2021.  Before that, I ran Dover's Green Sure Start Children’s Centre in Reigate for 10 years before it was closed in Surrey’s Children & Families transformation. I then spent a year working for a Health and Social Care company as a learning facilitator, training staff in care services.

I am a mum to twin teenage boys, and in my spare time I like to get creative, doing anything involving baking and making cakes, to flower arranging. It is so rewarding to have the opportunity to put my skills, knowledge and experience of working with children and families for the public, charity and private sector to good use, and to be back in the local area doing what I do best.

Chris H

Christine Heaton – Family Support Coordinator

I have been a Family Support Coordinator at Home-Start East Surrey since July 2017. Before that I was a home-visiting volunteer with Home-Start East Surrey for 5 years. My other jobs have included Immigration Officer, a TEFL teacher and a Learning Support Assistant. Outside of work I love spending time with my own family and friends, and my hobbies include travelling, reading, aerobics classes and going to the theatre & cinema.

Lisa W

Lisa Wedderburn – Perinatal Support Coordinator

Hi my name is Lisa and I've been working at Home-Start East Surrey since September 2017. Prior to that I worked at a local Children's Centre, in Reigate, for 8yrs

I mainly work with parents in their first year of parenthood. I have a small weekly group providing an extra supportive environment for those experiencing low mood and social isolation.

I love working with families, and feel hugely privileged to be a part of their parenting journey

Helen

Helen Sabath – Administrator

My name is Helen Sabath and I have been working with Home-Start East Surrey since 2016. Having previously spent over 30 years working in Finance, I knew I wanted a change in direction and wanted to give back. I then became a Volunteer with Home-Start – a role I am really passionate about. After a year of volunteering, I was then given the opportunity to step into the administration role and support the team which enables me to continue to be involved with families and still meet our amazing volunteers. I run the office, help organise events, and my most recent project was refurbishing our current office, in Redhill, which we are in today!

Helen

Kim Halford - Community Fundraiser

Hi my name is Kim and I joined Home-Start East Surrey in the role of Community Fundraiser in September 2024 having been a volunteer for Homestart East Surrey for a number of years before this. My first foray into fundraising was when I was asked to be involved with the Midsummer Gala Dinner in 2023, which I loved, and in which we raised over £15,000.

I am a mum to two teenage boys and prior to being a stay at home mum I was a Commercial Director for an IT company in London for over 10 years. My role now is to raise our profile as a charity, stop us being Redhill’s best kept secret, and bring in vital funds from local businesses to allow us to carry on doing the fabulous work we do as a charity.

Trustees

Stephanie

Stephanie Limond - Chair of Trustee

I have been a trustee for Home-Start East Surrey since 2019 when I became Chair of Trustees, I passionately believe in the work that everyone does to support families in our community.  Since joining I have been part of the consortium of Home-Starts across Surrey and became Chair of Home-Start Surrey at the beginning of 2023.   As well as supporting Home-Start I am involved with Caterham Foodbank and have recently taken on the role as Treasurer for them.

I have two grown-up children and share my home with my husband and dog!  My dog, Rona is a new acquisition and she is doing a good job of keeping me active.

Dave

David Mathieson – Treasurer

David has four grown children and three grandchildren, and has been with Home-Start East Surrey since April 2018.  He started working in computers in 1969, and moved into financial systems, corporate planning, and consultancy, for multinationals, the public sector including the NHS, and small start-ups, and for 12 years was Director of an international NGO.   He has been a District Councillor, and was a School Governor for 12 years. Now his role as a Trustee is to make sure the books balance and that Home-Start East Surrey has the funds they need to support their families.

Angie

Angie Barton

I’ve lived in Reigate for over 24 years.  I worked in the City for 30 years as a civil servant before taking a new position working closer to home for Reigate and Banstead Borough Council in their Intervention Team.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends, music, and discovering the numerous beauty spots around Surrey.  I feel very honoured to be a Trustee for Home Start East Surrey supporting the important projects offered for the benefit of our community.

Edwina

Tina Lockwood

I live in Merstham with my husband Aaron and have two school-age children (both girls) and a crazy energetic collie-cross dog called Rosie. When not at home, walking Rosie or providing a parent taxi service I work as a lawyer in the City of London. I have spent over 20 years working as a solicitor in private practice specialising in restructuring and insolvency law. I am absolutely delighted to be a trustee of Home-Start East Surrey. Recent years have been a difficult time for all of us and have provided challenges none of us ever expected to have to deal with and this has shone a light on how crucial it is to support each other and be kind which is at the very heart of what Home-Start is all about. Being able to use my skills to provide support to the amazing staff and volunteers is a real privilege and I am excited to be part of the small energetic team that delivers such an important function to the local community in which I live.

Edwina

Carla Brackstone

I joined Home-Start East Surrey as a Trustee in early 2025 as a way to help integrate into the local community after moving to Redhill from London. I am excited to be able to support families in the area and bring my skills to the board and learn from all the other experienced Trustees and staff members. I currently work professionally as a Programme Manager in healthcare based technology working closely with the NHS and have a background working in strategy consulting for pharmaceuticals.
In my spare time I love to travel to new places with my partner, especially if there is an opportunity to explore underwater as an avid scuba diver.

Edwina

Katie Gleeson

I have lived in Dorking for 8 years, with my husband and our two energetic primary school-aged sons, who keep us on our toes and very busy.
As a family, we love to be active and spend time outdoors, exploring the Surrey Hills and further afield. I also love good food and spending time with friends. Professionally, I bring over 15 years of experience in the UK charity sector, primarily working with large, national health charities. Most recently, I have held a senior leadership position, overseeing a range of support services and engagement programmes. My work is driven by a commitment to making a positive impact and improving the lives of others. I am delighted to be joining Home-Start East Surrey as a trustee, supporting the charity to continue providing such vital services to local families in increasingly challenging times.

Edwina

Jo Royden-Turner

I qualified as a chartered accountant at KPMG in South Africa and have now spent nearly 15 years in corporate finance,  as well as having being director of finance at a children's literacy charity and a school governor. When I moved to Reigate fairly recently with my two children, I was excited to come across Home Start and find out about the wonderful work they do in the community. I am looking forward to using my finance experience in particular to support the team. When not looking at spreadsheets or spending time with my children, I can usually be found reading, walking or running (slowly) around Reigate.
