Emma and daughter Lillie were recently honoured by Home-Start East Surrey. She and her daughter are one of the many families supported by Home-Start which is a local support charity based in Redhill. She is seen with her volunteer Marian Ingram (centre) who visits her at her home on a weekly basis.
Life as a family was perfect for Emma until a year ago when her partner had a traumatic accident that left him with severe brain injury and epilepsy leaving him unable to carry on with life as normal.  Following treatment in hospital, his life was filled with medical appointments and rehabilitation.  His relationship with his family suffered and his life was left in chaos.  A year later, medical support has been suspended due to lack of funding before he has managed to rebuild his life.  He is now unable to return to his former job as an HGV driver.
Home-Start is supporting Emma and her family through this difficult time. Marian, who is a trained volunteer, is helping her get back on her feet and cope with the stresses and strains of caring for her partner and her daughter as well as regaining her self confidence.  Emma says that she looks forward to Marian’s visit every week as she creates a moment for Emma to enjoy family life.
Home-Start train volunteers who visit families at home who are undergoing difficult times in Redhill, Reigate, Tandridge, Oxted, Horley and with a recent expansion into Dorking & parts of the Mole Valley District.
